Nexus or Prime HD with pentile screen?

I really hope that Prime will be pentile, at that huge DPI pentile can give many benefits like more efficient display, better contrast, better text sharpness and wide color gamut.

Many people here seem to mistake RGBG for RGBW. The prime will be RGBG, just like all other non+ SAMOLEDs. RGBW has a white pixel. That adds brightness, but NO color information. This is bad, and the cause of the crosshatch patterns. The reason for this is if you have a pixel that is in the middle of a green field, and it has red and white, there is no combination to display green, so you get a nasty pattern there. That pixel can only display red. This is what motorola uses.

RGBG is better. If you are in the middle of a green field, every pixel can display green. It's only in pure red/blue fields you get problems.

The second reason RGBG is better is most of the detail our eyes see comes from the green spectrum. There are extra green pixels in an RGBG display. The white pixel can't give any color information still. So the resolution is cut significantly compared to even an RGBG pentile display.

However, the prime is going to (supposedly) have 315ppi. That's close to a third more pixel density than devices like the bionic/sensation and any single pixel problems will hopefully be will hidden. As an owner of a device with the same pentile matrix and much lower density, I can say it's a lot less noticable than the moto version.

Pentile shrinks the color gamut, because not all pixels can display all colors.

Had the Bionic for 2 weeks and never had a problem with the screen. I loved how bright it was in sunlight. Some people were disturbed by the screen but I never saw the checker pattern some others did.

pentile give 72%NTSC vs 55%NTSC over a normal rgb stripe.
if this is a "shrink" for you, ok.

because there's nothing else that affects that...right...

There's a heck of a lot that goes into color depth than pixel arrangement, or all our desktop LCD's would have the same gamut. Hint, they don't.

your monitor with a pentile matrix will looks terribly ugly due to the really low dpi
but it will be able of a wider gamut.
