Nexus player running 6.0.1- USB doesn't work even with USB developer turned on.

I just bought the Nexus Player which is running droid version 6.0.1. I unlocked the USB developer mode, plugged in a OTG, plugged that into a USB HUB (powered) then I tried a mouse, keyboard and USB memory stick all did not work/register with the Nexus Player. I even tested the USB OTG and HUB on a computer and all worked fine.

Any suggestions????
