Anyone know where to get the Windows driver for this phone? I tried plugging it in & it said it couldn't find the driver. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks!

I thought I found it on XDA, but it didn't work. It was a package of Samsung mobile device drivers, but it must not include this one yet.

If you install the Google SDK it will allow you to get the native google drivers. If you do a search for a Nexus rooting how-to it will show you how to get them.

A comment to this, I installed the Google SDK and the platform tools. It wasn't till I installed the PDANet application did the drivers install. I had read specifically that the nexus s drivers were not included in the current Google SDK and thats what brought me to read about the PDANet fix.

Well, I just tried both, the Google SDK and PDANet. I keep getting USB Device Not Recognized. I tried both the Samsung drivers and Other on PDANet. I checked the box under Notifications/Development that PDANet suggested also, still no luck. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I would leave that unchecked, it is not needed unless you are tethering via usb.

What does the device come up as in Device Manager on windows? And what are you trying to do when hooking up your phone to your pc? USB Storage? Root your Device?

Comes up as Unknown Device. Kinda wondering if it could be the cable? Worked fine with my Pre, but who knows? I can try it again at home with the one that came with it, i guess.

I'm using my Palm Pre cable also. If your still having problems later today after 6pm est. Shoot me a message on gtalk ill try and help ya 1:1. My e-mail is obvious :-p

One thing to try in the SDK is to goto "available packages" then to "third party add on's" from the drop down go into "google inc" and make sure to check the "google USB driver package revision 4". Once your sure thats downloaded try reinstalling and point the device manager to the folder in the SDK where the drivers are. I had to manually install this way.

To which drivers was windows refering, usb storage or modem? Does it mount the usb store in my computer? I am using Ubuntu which mounts the storage space fine.

I had the same problem. All I got was a message saying waiting for device in fastboot until I finally installed pdanet and everyrhing went smooth after that.

Pdanet worked just fine on my win xp 64 computer at home. Thanks for the help! I'll just have to play with the one at work more tomorrow.

Turns out it was the cable I was using at work! It was just a generic micro USB, but it worked on my Pre, but not on the Nexus. I'm using the one that came with the phone & it's working just fine now.

I'm still having fits with drivers.

I have SDK, but read from above, the drivers aren't listed in my files. I did install PDANet, phone is recognized. Took 2 days to figure this out.

But when trying to do "boot unlocker", I don't think it is recognizing, this is a pain. . . ..

What cable are you using? I found that my cheap cables did not work & I had to use the one that came with the phone. the one that came with my Pre worked too.

Just so I understand, if I just want to use USB to transfer files between my Nexus and my Windows PC, I have to install the entire SDK? That seems a bit excessive.

I can agree also, but when you consider we are using developer actions. YOU would normally be using the SDK as a developer anyways.

Your rooting a developer phone, it would be common to think that to root a developer phone you need the developer tools. When I did it coming from the Palm Pre, I did think it was alot of work, compaired to the way on the Pre.

And since I'm coming from a Pre, myself, it seemed a bit of a hassle. Fortunately, I poked around a bit more and discovered that somehow the "USB debug" flag had been set. Once I unchecked it my PC picked it up right away, no SDK required.

While I may get around to rooting the NS4G eventually, I think I'll wait until I've had it more than three days to do so. :-)
