According to the PC Mag write up that was just published this phone has, amongst the pre-installed software, the app "Sprint Mobile (a virtual credit-card thingie)".

I wonder if that means it has a NFC chip??

Hmm... interesting find!!!! I was real hopeful that NFC chip would make its way into Sprint's GSII flavor, but they didn't mention anything. But reading this, seems like this hope can live on for few days more before knowing for sure.

All sprint phones have Sprint mobile
What does this app do? If there is no NFC in the phone, how does it work on those phones then?

No I don't think so. If I understand it correctly, Sprint mobile wallet is for web based transactions you complete on your smartphone. NFC is used to "swipe" your phone near another device to complete a transaction.

If this phone had NFC it would have been a highlighted feature, which Sprint is never shy at doing.
