Tested 3 NFC tags in my flat. No Google Wallet to test out in the wild. I went into a Sprint store 2 days ago and one for one returned the HTC Flip Dip Case because I hated how I couldnt take pictures on the fly and texting was awkward. Great for media and using it as desk prop but not too functional IRL. Just a heads up.

Been thinking of getting the flip case but may rethink it now. How bad was texting on it?

take a piece of cardboard and put it in the same hand as the phone then try to type fast and accurately. in portrait or landscape. some people might like it some may not. it doesnt close all the way either. it feels like it needs tiny magnets sewn into the flaps somehow. it was my 2nd choice but its all they had at the store at the time the next day i picked up the last double dip they had on display. its much better.

Used the LGOG to wipe the NFC tags and removed them from the POST IT notes I had hanging up. They seem to work now. I have no clue what I was doing wrong and how I actually remedied it but they seem to "ping" fine now. I hope when Google Wallet comes I don't have this issue again.

Pardon my ignorance, so now you're saying that NFC does indeed work with the Double Dip case installed?

I was wondering the same thing, does nfc work with any case, since a case besides the poetic bumper case will add a minute dimension to the back of the phone

Went from an HTC 3D to a One

NFC should work within a range of 10cm (although sometimes it is less) as long as there is no metal close by which will trip up the signal.

For example if you put a normal (i.e. non anti-metal) NFC tag on a metal surface, NFC will not work. If there is any metal on your phone case between the NFC chip/sensor and the NFC tag, NFC will not work. For the HTC One I read there was a spot on the back of the phone that is not aluminium, specially made for NFC.

If you need to put a normal NFC tag on a metal surface, you can raise the sticky part so it is higher off the metal surface, then the NFC tag will work.

The double dip flip DOES work with NFC. I have tested it with my tags and with Google Wallet with no issue at all
