After having the signal drop issue for a few days, I had VZW replace my GN with a new one. So far I have to say the difference feels like night and day. I was really only concerned about the data/voice drop outs which lasted from 15 seconds - reboot, depending on when. After reloadin everything on the new replacement, the whole phone seems different. Screen swipes are faster, screen rotation (while still laggy) is much better than the last which would take frustratingly long. Screen seems the same, but overll the phone seems snappier. I liked the phone before, now I like it even more!! It's only been one day, so I can't really report on the data drops, but I'm crossing my fingers.

I wouldn't call it night and day, but I do see a difference in my replacement.

I didn't have bad signal issues. The worst signal problem I had was that it often took 5 minutes or more for the phone to pick up a data signal when switching from Wifi to mobile data, or from 4G to 3G. My replacement (I returned it because of a weird voice-calling glitch) switches between 4G, 3G and Wifi very quickly.

I also notice better battery life. I struggled to get 10 hours out of a charge on the first one. Yesterday it went back on the charger with 18% left after 14 hours on battery. Much, much, much better. :)

Is there anyway to determine the build batch by examining the phone with the battery out? The reason is I am wondering if there was a bad early batch or something.

Maybe if somebody could get a list of serial numbers going, ones that people are returning with reception problems, and ones without those problems there might be a way to zero in on a group of phones that are more likely to have issues.

I hope my replacement is like yours. This network drops drive me crazy. My cell standby show 30 something % without network. I reboot my nexus, 40 minutes, 4% now. Still very bad.

Yeah, I had the same thought, KneeDragr. Like the good ol' Blackberry Storm days, where people were cross-referencing batches to avoid certain "Made in Mexico" lots. ;) Thought about starting a thread for it, but I can only find unique IMEI numbers on the phone or its packaging -- and my gut tells me that's something you wouldn't want to publish on the web.

OK, Night and Day might have been a bit more tha I meant, but I really meant that there was a noticeable different bewteen swiping app screens etc.. and the phone is without question snappier. It is very possible that some of these issue could have been resolved if I had wiped the GN and started over, but I don't feel we should have to do that on a brand new phone. I'm just happy to report that I am happier than before and have no doubts that this will be a fun phone to have for a while!! Now if I could only find that desktop multimedia dock somewhere

Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Had the drip out on tge replacement phone!!!! I guess I'll hope the bug fix addresses this only happenned once so far today (that i noticed)

I had the exact same experience. Returned my release day gnex because while in a call, sounded like call kept dropping, but other person could still hear me. I also had the dropped data problem. It also seemed like I had slight banding on right side, but decided I was seeing something that wasn't really there. I also onky got 3-4 hours stock battery.

Ummm..yeah. Returned with no hassles. Got it home. OMG!! So THATS what the gnex screen is suppose to look like....brighter whites and blacks are really black????? And yep...there WAS banding on the old one. So I wasnt imagining it.

No dropped data. And ummm...ready for this? I am currently on hour 15 with 38% battery left....on STOCK BATTERY. What THE?????? Have had the new gnex a week and havent used my extended battery once yet. Can't imagine what battery life I' m gonna get out of THAT one now??!!

So...if any of you are questioning your phone??....there probably really IS somethibg wrong. I had NO idea until I got this one...what the gnex is SUPPOSED to do.

OMG, I received my replacement today and I finally activated my replacement phone, it's is so much better. My old GN which I had it 2 days, during that time, I think I have noticed at least 50 times of data dropping. And it was offline for 30 sec to a minute. It was extremely annoying as hell. So far with my new GN, I was playing with this awesome phone for last 5 hours, not a single drop data yet. I am so freaking happy right now.
