Night Mode Camera

I thought I saw something about this phone getting night mode for the camera with the last update but don't see anything under my camera settings. Can anyone elaborate on this? I'm using an unlocked version on vzw and have the latest update. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, the update was held back due to issues. I'm not sure if it will be available yet.

It's not available yet on the US versions including the US unlocked model. As far as I saw it was only on the some international exynos models. Probably going to be in the US models in the next security update.

Try https://www.xda-developers.com/take...samsung-galaxy-s10-with-a-google-camera-port/ - if it was done as well as it was done for the Pixel 2, that's as good as it gets. (Without the Visual Core chip, it can't really get as good as the Pixel, but close.)

I have it on the S10+ and it really doesn't do anything different in night sight than regular mode.

Too bad, because on the Pixel 2 it almost sees in the dark. I see colors (and details) in areas I only saw black with my eyes.

Could be something in the settings. Works great on my 3XL

The difference between the S10 (or + or e) is the lack of the Pixel Visual Core chip. The Pixel 2 port works great on my 2. (I guess it's VC chip that's the reason everyone is still comparing their cameras to the Pixels.)

The chip affects mostly processing speed which is the only difference found with the 3a models

And in night mode, it makes it possible to take a picture of a child at night, and be able to look at it before he's old enough to vote. Which is why phones without the VC fake it in software, but not quite as well.

It's not working at all on my S10+. Shutter sound makes a weird noise and takes it almost immediately. I thought it was supposed to work but it's not doing anything

There is a bit of difference in the comparison in the article, but the difference shows under extreme conditions. Take a look at the Pixel 2 picture thread - I'm sure I posted my night shot in there somewhere. (I can't figure out how to do a "search thread and user" search.)

The first photo is night sight and the second without. Although I am not completely dark (due to TV being on) you can see the better detail and colour in the night sight photo.
