No 3G, thinking it's a hardware defect

Yesterday, all of a sudden, I lost 3G connectivity. It was working just fine in the morning, I didn't change anything, it just started refusing to connect to 3G. I can get 1X if and only if I set my preferred network type to CDMA only. I've tried everything I could in terms of trouble shooting. I'm running das bamf 2.1 with imoyeson's lean kernel and I've tried reflashing both MR2.0 and 2.5 radios, but nothing. Even tried wiping all data and cache three times and reflashing my ROM and radio, but still no fix. My buddies are all getting 3G, so I don't think it's a verizon problem.

Anyways, I'm guessing no one will really know how to fix this problem, but if you do please share, so my real question is what exactly do I do before going to verizon? Obviously I need to unroot, but will I also need to format my sd card due to the titanium and clockwork folders? Is it enough to run the auto unroot program posted in this forum? Also, I called verizon for help and the lady told me to call back on a different device so that tech support could run some kind of diagnostics on my phone. Should I try this before going into the verizon store? If so, do I need to unroot for this? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance for any help.

PS no 4G in my area.

I would return the phone to stock, and if you still don't have a 3G signal, then take it into Verizon. If you do have a hardware problem then they will get you a replacement. If you walk into Verizon rooted and complain about your data, not only would you have officially voided your warranty, but you would have also probably not gotten much help. Good luck!

Thanks, that's what I figured, just wanted to make sure. Interestingly enough, I just used my phone normally for another day or two with the 1X, checking the 3G every now and then, and it finally came back on. Didn't do any more troubleshooting, it just came back on.

It could have just been 3G in your area went down for that time period vs there being something wrong with your phone.

All my friends (also on verizon) were receiving 3G, and 2-3 days seems like a long time for it to be down. However, their phones weren't 4G capable... Don't know if that matters.

It was more then likely the ehrpd netowrk then that went down. This is happened before, and will more than likely happen again.
