Howdy all!
I am a lifetime Apple user and about two weeks ago took the plunge into Android and freaking loving it!!! Now I do want to say that my Note 10+ was bought from one of those 2nd hand dealer. It seemed legit, I consider my self very tech savie and even googled ways to assure it's not counterfeit.

Well needless to say I am deep into the android monster..
I have recently been downloading alot of Kwgt apps and random customization apps with Nova Laucher.

TLDR: Software stuck on Nov 2019 update NO Android 10 or UI2 :-(.
I have read about the release schedule and from what I saw mine should be giving me an Update. Did I buy a KNOCKOFF? Or Virus?

Welcome to Android Central, and glad to have you over on this side of the yard!:)

What's the exact model number of the phone (in Settings>About Phone)? If this was a variant that was originally from a specific carrier, and you're using it on a different carrier, that might be why. Phones from a specific carrier usually have to be on that network to get official system updates over the air.

Which exact version is your device?

What carrier do you have?

If you're using a different device than from your carrier or region you might have to use Odin to update your device, but we'll need to know exact device and carrier.

Thanks for the response! And so welcoming!!
Model # SM-N975U

If it ends up being the carrier issue, which may be. I believe I found a way to see who the original carrier was and it was Sprint: I am on Cricket.

Is there any way to backdoor this to still get the update?

Would anyone point me in the direction of how to find the original carrier I would like to confirm just in case!

I'll need 3 things screen shots from you

1. Put phone in download mode take picture
2. System settings >about phone >software information take picture
3. System settings >about phone>status does phone status say official?

Yes, it says official. Attached screen shots.

Ok download mode looks good
You saying phone says official is good
Now here where its different.
The software on the phone is a carrier version not the unlocked version . its SM-N975U which is carrier software , the unlocked is SM-N975U1
So someone flashed it .
The XAA XAA XAA the third XAA means its unlocked version orginally. The 2 XAA in front are you using straight talk sim ? Does your boot up screen come on with carrier splash instead of Samsung logo?

If buy Straight Talk Sim you mean carrier than no. I have Cricket Wireless.
And boot up is Samsung

This is the steps :

Windows computer needed

Latest Odin prince comsey can Google it and download should be 3.13.1 or 3.14.1

Download samfirm v0.4.1 tool , extract it with 7zip.

You will extract files for Odin once download with 7zip and will do same for firmware with 7zip .

There will be 4 files after you extract the firmware

BL

AP

CP

CSC

Each of those files will go in Odin when you open to the corresponding slots

BL

AP

CP

CSC

Home data slot dont put nothing

connect your phone with cable to computer , once the files are in its slots hit start, once done you'll see pass in Odin and it will reboot

Put your model number, region select check for updates , then download the Rom , extract the Rom with 7zip.

*Make sure you put phone in download mode*
*If dont see your phone connected in Odin change cables or ports in computer *

For your model number in tool put
SM-N975U1
Region =XAA20200428_194320.jpeg

Back up your stuff now, make sure 50 percent charge on phone and don't disconnect until it says pass in odin (green)
