All,
I've been struggling with e-mail on this phone for about 6 weeks now. I'm using the native e-mail application to sync via IMAP with my work e-mail. I have never been able to see any indication of attachments when sent to this account (even when I send them to myself). I have downloaded the Adobe reader and Quickoffice. They haven't helped. I have been able to see attachments and open them when using the g-mail application that came installed on the phone (with a g-mail account of course). When I try to forward an e-mail that I know has an attachment (but without any indication of it on the phone), I get the error:
Some attachments cannot be forwarded because they have not been downloaded

I've spent the morning on the phone with Samsung Galaxy S tech support. Their suggestions were to factory reset the phone (which I'm not sure I'm willing to do at this point due to backup issues) or use K9.

I'm certainly willing to switch to K9 (and from what I've read on these boards, perhaps I should). Does anyone else have a suggestion?

Thanks for your help,

Total stab at the dark but is it possible that your work IT dept. has configured their company work email account IMAP settings to prevent attachments from coming through? I don't even know if that's a possibility but perhaps the issue is with your work account and not with your phone.

Maybe, to test this, add a GMAIL account to your native e-mail application and see if you can get attachments through that IMAP connection? If so then you know the issue is not with the phone at least.

Also, the GMAIL App forces you to use a SSL connection I believe. Could that be a factor as well? Maybe you can only access attachments on your exchange server if the connection is secure??

Like I said, I'm just throwing out ideas since this has been an open question since yesterday and you haven't seen much response yet.

Thanks for the response. That's a good idea about checking with gmail. I will try that. I'm just using IMAP though, not an exchange server.

In the meantime, I switched to K9 and I'm able to see attachments. However, I'm only able to send e-mails when on the 3G or Edge network, not when on wifi. Anyone seen that issue?

Thanks for your help. I'll post again once I've had a chance to test with gmail and the native app.
