No audio through earbuds or headphones

Not sure what the problem was, but I was getting no audio through the supplied earbuds nor through headphones with the dongle. I've had this happen with other phones using the USB audio interface. Anyway, if this happens to anyone else, a simple reboot should solve it. Yes, the plugs were firmly seated and no there was no debris in the socket. I'll update if it happens again or a larger problem develops.

I tried out my Pixel Buds last night and had this happen. When I did so a dialog box popped up but it went away so fast I didn't have a chance to read it. So I unplugged it and plugged it back in again. This time I accepted and audio started playing through the Pixel Buds. Apparently it's like when you plug your phone into a computer, it asks whether you want to charge, do data transfer, sync, etc.

Haven't seen that yet but only used the buds once so far.

Someone else (another thread today) mentioned that he had that problem - called Google and they had him reboot into safe mode, plug in the adapter, then the buds, then set them up. It worked in normal mode from then on. A little software bug?

I'm not sure what would have to be set up

I didn't buse a adapter, just plugged them in, they worked.

You know the button on the cord is the mute button, Right.

The phone probably wanted you to select what the USB is doing . Like when you plug into your computer it wants to know to share info or charge the phone.

Not on mine.
I said o.k. Google.
Play some Boston music, plugged the pixel buds in and hit play. Music came out.

It's in the USB settings, file transfer, USB tethering, MIDI, PTP, and no data transfer. When my Buds wouldn't work, I noticed it was set to no data transfer, so I put it on file transfer and it worked after that.

I think he was saying that he was using the adapter with a pair of standard headphones with a 3.5mm plug.

Maybe that's where my issue started. I plugged them in with no audio playing and then started the player. Had I started playing the music first, it might've recognized that I was plugging in headphones and switched the USB settings automatically.

You know, for a lot of things you go in your settings for. If you have your Google assistant turned on and set up.
You can say o.k. Google and tell Google to do things for you.

You can say, o.k. Google turn my flashlight on.
O.k. Google turn my flashlight off.

Never had to do it with mine.....had to setup GA

Okay, well at least we know what's happening. I can't remember far back enough to remember whether I had to do that with the 2.
