NO AVI viewer for EVO?

Saw the other posts on viewing AVI files on EVO.

Media needs to be converted to a "Standard" format to be viewed on the EVO?

Is it me or aren't media formats like AVI, FLV, MP4, MPG also standards?

I converted from a HTC Touch Pro running Windoze Mobile and there were a couple of app's (CorePlayer), to view just about any media format with no encoding or conversion nonsense.

This movie viewing experience doesn't sound like an EVOlution to me.

AVI is a standard. What isn't a standard is what goes inside it. An AVI is a container for just about anything, and you need the codec to be able to play it.

I didn't think pirates even bothered with AVI containers any longer.

and you won't see a coreplayer app for android anytime soon either. Just get used to converting files into mp4 or not watching movies on your evo.

tried that one. stutters way too much for it to be useful in playing avi files.
