I just received my 4a, coming from a 3xl, and I don't have the option to turn the chat feature on. Is it just not an option for the 4a? I attached a screenshot from both devices.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping for. Now that I'm used to it, can't go without it. Waiting on that to happen before using it as my daily driver.

Is everything fully up to date (both system updates and app updates)? Which carrier are you using?

Good news. I subscribed to the beta program for messages and after about 10 minutes the chat feature is now setting up.

Having read this thread before my 4a arrived, when I saw that it was out for delivery I turned Chat off on my OP6T. Later that day when setting up the 4a, it only took a few minutes for Chat features to be ready. Granted I was already running the beta, so not sure if that made the difference. But just wanted to report that I had no issues doing it that way.

Glad you got the Chat features set up! I know what you mean - once you have it, it's hard to go back! :)

On my pixel the chat app installed itself, but I had to go into the Google play store to enable the app.... it was disabled by default. I waited days for it to activate, and would've waited forever :O My wife's Moto G6 had her chat working instantly as soon as it was available... I know because I set it up. I found that quite interesting. Something to check out on your pixels ;-)

Always check you have carrier services installed and up to date. This is necessary to run chat messages.
