I have a client who came in with a Nexus 4 running Android 4.4.2 and trying to cast his screen to the Chromcast but only to see this error on his screen.

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

Is this happening just by opening the app or when trying to look for the Chromecast dongle? Are you certain the Chromecast unit is actually connected to the same network?

This is happening when he tries cast the screen on his phone to the Chromcast. It's scanning and scanning for the Chromcast and at last this is the screen that he sees. And yes, it's both on the same network. I've made sure of that.

Do you have another Android phone available you could try this on? I wonder if the modem he's using is somehow interfering or blocking Chromecast traffic or if it's his phone in particular.

Unfortunately, I do not have another device that is compatible with Chromcast screen cast. He is able to cast YouTube anything to the screen. He just can't do a screen cast via Chromecast app. So, I don't think the modem is the problem.

pretty sure the nexus 4 doesnt need the app. there is an option in settings under display to do it straight from the OS, no app needed. im gonna test it tonight as i have a nexus 4 too.

Yup, it worked like a charm. Both on my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. Just use the built in feature from the settings and it should work.

Many thanks for all your help. If you don't mind, would you be able to give me the steps to get to the exact settings to get this to work?

Thanks a whole bunch!
