I just got a Samsung s23 to replace my iPhone 11. I was already using several Google apps and transferred my data. When I opened my contacts there was no way to edit them. I downloaded the Google contacts app to use instead of the Samsung one, but I still have no edit function. How do I fix this?

My old phone says I didn't set it up. But my phone also won't let me post a picture here. It says "parsing failed"

Can you show a screenshot of the Contacts screen, making sure to block out any identifying info first?

Edit how? As in delete existing from the list you posted a picture of? Or selecting an individual contact and changing the information?

In either case, you won't get any options unless you click or long click on a contact.

Long pressing to select, you should see a "delete" and other options at the bottom of the screen. But only if at least one contact is selected.

Otherwise, to edit an individual contact information, click it once and you should see the edit pencil at the bottom of the page.20240327_190226.jpgScreenshot_20240327_190422.jpg

If you long-press a contact, it will activate the multi-select tool. You need to short-tap the contact, which should open up that contact. Can you show what happens if you do that?

Right, I understand that's what you get with a long-press, but as I said, that will only activate the multi-select tool. What happens if you short-tap a contact? It doesn't open?

OMG I would swear I've done that before! I hate that I'm so good at making a fool of myself. Follow up question: is there a way to customize ring and message tones, I don't see that as one of the edit options?

Tap more

For messages you have to go to that app for individuals , which message app are you using?

Thanks for that. For messages I have both Google messages and messages+. At this point I'm just kinda looking for the best options. ☺️
