No Data when my signal bars go grey

That's it? No more numbers or letters? i have those along side other letters and numbers when i just did the update. Without flashing radios seperate.

Screenshot?

i recently updated to 4.0.4 thinking (hoping) this would fix the problem but it has happened twice since... doesn't feel like it is happening as often but i can't sit there and stare at the bars all day either... my preferred network mode is always on cdma... NOT lte/cdma even though i frequently travel to 4g area...

more info:
in our house (non 4g area) my phone sitting next to my gfs rezound she will have 3 bars i will have zero to one but can make clear calls with no problems...

also, is there a program that monitors when we lose data signal so when i go into vzn i can show them the problem... the chances of going in there and showing them grey bars would be slim since it's random

i need some clarification... i see people talk about radio updates and low signal strength... was 4.0.4 supposed to fix this problem or is this a hardware problem and i need to exchange my phone...

there is some talk about bad batches... phones put together in china or korea... has anyone actually clarified this... my phone was manufactured in korea

You gfs Rezound...well all previous versions of Android before ICS...reads the signal differently. Read this (thank 2defmouz)

This is why your Verizon Nexus signal "sucks" - Galaxy Nexus - RootzWiki

Try a new LTE SIM card. Both 3G (via eHRDP) and LTE must authenticate using the SIM card. If it's not working, you may be experiencing the issues with data connectivity problems - gray vs blue means authenticated Google services, but gray with no data probably means your data connection is not authenticated. A flaky SIM may be responsible.

There is more, I just cut it to the part that matters :). Here is a screenshot-

Somebody needs to flash a background gradient:p See how your screen is lighter on the bottom...and always the bottom as in towards the ground if you can rotate 360 degrees like AOKP. I can't seem to find where I got it, but it was posted on AC. See the different in these screenshots. Sorry if you didn't notice it before!

I am sorry, but I just dont care what the settings menu gradient looks like :). Doesn't seem to do it everywhere, and if settings wants a gradient, it is welcome to it! lol

Have a good one!

EDIT- It doesn't do it everywhere does it? Spot checked a couple spots, only see it in settings.

No, I agree I only noticed it when I uploaded a screenshot of settings as an excited newb post flashing.

that's what mine looks like after the update... i didn't update the radios separate...

i've been having this probably early on with the phone... have other people replace their sim cards and this has gone away?

I'll throw this out there as a possibility. I flashed my ROM to Jelly Bean and then used Titanium Backup to restore various apps and data. The first thing TB did was the ask if I wanted to replace my Android ID with the old one from the backup. I had already setup my Google Account on the phone and told TB 'yes'. I'm guessing that ID caused a failure because I kept getting a message from Google Play that my account could not be verified. I also had gray bars constantly during this time. I re-flashed, told TB 'no', and I'm getting blue bars constantly now. The change in the ID could be something to consider.

This has been driving my wife nuts, so much so she is demanding a new phone and the iPhone at that....

I'm pretty sure that the grey/blue data bars mean that you have background data on or off. If you have background data off, then it saves battery but you can't use certain applications, like the Play Store. That's what I've found, at least.

In my device there is problem of network bar when ever network strength is low in it showing full network and it seems to be static as full network.
Please any one solve this issue.
