No December update for my Pixel 3, so far

Camera and the size of the Pixel 3 are what keep me on it. That's it. Honestly if OnePlus or Nokia make a device of similar size next year with a camera that's close, I'm probably out on the Pixel line. Based on the leak I saw on the Pixel 4a having a damn hole punch I won't be buying that.

As for the issues, lots of freezing and lag. It will dial out to people in my favorite contacts randomly when sitting on my desk or table or whatever and make calls when I'm not touching it. The gesture navigation seems to be the cause of the freezing and lag. Probably because I'm using Nova but it shouldn't matter.
Wow. I actually love Android 10 guesture navigation. Works flawlessly on my pixel 3 XL and much more intuitive and fluid that the old button navigation. Even animation is much more enjoyable and fluid.

The random calling is so strange though. Maybe you want to uninstall Nova launcher for a while and see what happens?

Not really, then I'd have to use the Pixel launcher lol.

See I argue the opposite, I think the gestures are clunky, it's not any faster for me particularly when switching between recent apps. Buttons are way faster for me. The only thing I do like about the gestures is the back gesture is nice when it isn't interfering with something like an app that has similar swiping. To each their own though right?

I'm on T-Mob and my P3XL has not received the December update. Seeing as it is Dec. 30, I am thinking/hoping we jump straight to the January update at this point. I started a chat with Google Support and they told me it was due to T-Mobile and some type of unspecified bug (I am assuming with the update). This is a bit confusing, because if it was a bug with the update, wouldn't Google be the one for patching it? Has anyone else heard anything about this?

6:19:28 Olivia S: I've checked the information about this, we are aware that the December update is not yet available for Pixel 3 XL users on T-Mobile. We are actively working with our carrier partners to ensure affected users receive the security update.

6:19:40 Olivia S: Once available, you will see a notification on your device to begin the update.

6:19:44 Olivia S: Please be assured.

6:20:10 Lou: What is the reason for the delay?

6:21:45 Olivia S: Lou, we have no information regarding the reason for delay. Once the bug is fixed, you'll get a notification on your device to begin the update.

I am on TMobile and side loaded December update 3 weeks ago. Zero problems. So not sure what bug they are taking about.

How much BS can they sling? I certainly would not want to impeach Google's veracity! Until a week ago, my Pixel 3 purchased direct from Google and only on Google Fi did not get the update so was the bug on Google Fi, too? And I did get the update once I put a Verizon sim in the Pixel 3. So, no bug for Verizon and a bug or two for the other carriers?

Ok, so I went the nuclear option and did a factory reset. Running the stock Pixel launcher with the gestures. Your right, it works well with the stock launcher. There's just a couple things I wish I could do in the Pixel launcher that I can't but I'm learning to live with it.

The only 1 thing I miss with Nova Prime is ability to change folder to be an icon (click to lunch 1st app in the folder and swipe the icon to open the folder). I learned to live without that now and really enjoying the fluidity of pixel launcher and Android 10 guesture navigation.

Yeah I miss double tap to lock, getting rid of the search bar and at a glance widget, hiding apps in the app drawer that are on my desktop, and my icon pack. But it's definitely clunkier on a third party launcher so I guess I'll live with it's shortcomings for now.

Figured out the issue with Nova. It hasn't been updated to work with the gestures yet, hence the freezing and lag. Action Launcher has been updated and works quite well, just as good as the Pixel launcher. FYI.

PM me when Nova launcher gets updates. I might give it another try if it is as smooth. Thanks for the update!
