No Fascinate For A While

Except none of the phones Verizon is releasing soon are AMOLED screens...the Droid x/2 are both TFT LCD and the Dinc switched from AMOLED to LCD.

If they WERE having stock issues (for any reason) with new and up coming phones, then it would make more sense to release it now so they have high end phones in. Plus variety is always good. The longer they wait, the more chance that people get a different phone or or go with a different Galaxy S from someone else, at least for those waiting for the Fascinate.

If they waited until the holidays, they might as well not release it. At least as is, they'd have to throw in LTE or a FFC to make it more appealing vs. what will likely be coming around that time.

As long as Samsung maintains a summer release with the "in a few weeks" comments, i'll bet on between 3 to 5 weeks.

I completely agree with everything. Except for the 3-5 weeks. They are going to wait a fair amount of time after the Droid 2, and I also heard that it was just released for testing a week or 2 ago - and that testing to launch timeframes are usually about 6-8 weeks. Lastly, they are apparently waiting on Microsoft to finalize their Android Bing application it seems (kill me).

I would think some mid-to-late September release is most likely.

Having said that, I agree with your points above and see no benefit at all to waiting this long.

It's not releasing in 5 days. And you only get one exchange in the 30.

I don't really see the facinate coming out anytime even in august. Verizon's in no hurry to release it. They just launched the Incredible and the X, and soon the Droid2. releasing another one wouldn't really help their sales as much as waiting a bit to release it. They also won't announce it anytime near the launch of other devices SPECIFICALLY because they don't want people buying the x/droid2 to get used to android while they "wait" to exchange their device for a Facinate. So I'd say the earliest you'd see it is most likely mid-late september or later. Maybe even a holiday phone. Remember, the Galaxy series use an AMOLED variant screen, so verizon doesn't want to launch it around the time of other AMOLED phones, so they don't have the same stock issue they had with the incredible.

The phone will basically have the exact specs as the two variants already out. Here is the phonescoop information page:
Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S) Specs, Features (Phone Scoop)

Galaxy S use Super AMOLED screens, they are the ONLY phones to use these screens at this point. And even if they weren't Samsung makes the screens, and I guarentee they would provide for their phones before they sold them to any other phone manufacturer.

why would you quote me after I said I wouldn't expect Samsung to release the phone in the next 2-10 weeks in the post above. Everything you've said has been repeated in this thread countless times, but thank you for your indulgence.

Exactly. Thank you for having me not have to mention that Samsung owns their super amoled technology and can produce enough to their hearts content.

thank you as well.

It's still AMOLED tech. I'm assuming they use the same lines. If they don't, then the supply of these screens will be even smaller than AMOLED and the last thing verizon wants to do is have another botched phone release this summer. Even though they own the tech, they are still dealing with a VERY finite number of screens and they're launching their phone on 5 major carriers in the US as well as several carriers overseas, selling it unlocked, AND using the same tech for their BADA line of phones.

There is no reason for Verizon to launch it anytime soon, and it's in samsungs best interest to stagger the releases.

I'm really hoping for a sooner rather than later release. Especially 'cause I'm going to be looking at the Droid 2 and Fascinate for my next phone. I really like the Fascinate, but as a current BlackBerry user (and former Storm user), I really like physical keyboards. So, I'm somewhat torn between the two. Having them both out relatively soon for me to compare will be ideal.

Also, more and more commercials are coming out for the Galaxy S. I've seen numerous ones within the last few days, particularly for the Vibrant. With that, I think it would be wise for Verizon to try and "ride that wave" themselves and put out the Fascinate. That way, they get to take advantage of free advertising, so to speak -- other carriers advertise for the Galaxy S and talk it up, etc., and Verizon can say, we have that too.

I disagree with every single part of this. The reasons have all been stated before ..

Which phone are you referring to (Fascinate or Droid 2) as being released for testing a week or 2 ago? I'm still looking at the Droid 2 being released by Verizon on 8/12 or thereabouts based on the rumors. So, I'm thinking you meant Fascinate in your post, but wanted to make sure.

Where's the verizon insider with some fascinate info when ya need'em lol

I did mean the Fascinate. And I only read that in these Forums from a VZW insider who is pretty reliable. I am sure the Droid 2 will be out next week or so...

I think the Fascinate will probably be release mid to late august or within the first 2 weeks of September, maybe it will just be a quiet release phone with Samsung doing the advertising.

i hope not, waitin on this phone to come out. rather excited about it

On Facebook today, Samsung posted this regarding the Fascinate: "The Samsung Fascinate on Verizon is weeks away" ...

Of course, who knows HOW MANY weeks exactly, but at least they haven't forgotten about it :D

Almost makes you wonder if it required more testing vs the others, also wonder how samsung feels about verizon dragging there heels about releasing it

As a long time Verizon customer and current BlackBerry owner, it's of no surprise that Verizon is dragging their feet. They always seem to be lagging behind other carriers. Just take their releases for BlackBerry OS updates as an example. Way behind everyone else, and it didn't result in a better product either IMO.

So, that post together with their earlier tweet, they've bought themselves more time. All they have to do is keep posting/tweeting a few "weeks away". Pretty soon it'll be the end of the year.

I really want to have this phone out soon. I'm really looking at it and the Droid 2 as my potentially first Android phone. I was really impressed by the Vibrant. So I'm expecting good things from the Fascinate. But, I've always preferred the physical keyboard, which brings the Droid 2 into the equation. I'd like to have both side by side to check out.

It was leaked on another forum that the Fascinate was just released for testing. That normally means the phone is 6-8 weeks away from the general public...

The timeframe continues to fall into place. 6-8 weeks from 7/21 (test phase) would mean somewhere around 9/1 to 9/15
