Hi Community,

very very new to Android as the One X is my first Android device.

I'm currently playing around to get used to the "new" software, and noticed that I don't get an e-mail notification, when receiving mails via Gmail.

Whatsapp, Twitter and Messaging notifications all work, but not getting anything from Gmail. It updates my account when I open the Gmail app, but without opening the app manually, I don't get notifications.

Am I doing something wrong?

Would appreciate some assistance! :)

Should be under your gmail settings. Look for the settings under your email name (not general etc). There should be a place to check for notifications when new mail arrives.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually the "Email notifications" setting is checked, however I still don't get notifications and have to manually check for updates.

Same issue with the Mail app (Pop3).

:'(

When you say that you don't get a notification, are you talking about the icon that pops up when you have new email or the green blinking LED notification?

Neither is working for me. No blinking LED as well as no icon in the status bar or notification bar, you name it (upper left corner).

Hmmm, ok I know its a PITA to do but maybe doing a factory reset of the device would help and if that still doesnt fix it, I would take it back to the AT&T store (assuming you bought it there and it is not the international version)
Good Luck!

Well actually it is the international version and it's only 2 days old. Going to take it back to my carrier I think.

Good Luck ;) if they figure out what is wrong, might be a good idea to post it for others who run into that same issue

Um... Do you have auto sync on?
Look for it under Settings> Accounts

Gmail: Gmail Sync is OFF

Mail: Peak time sync -> Smart sync -> From Monday 8am to Friday 8pm
Off-peak sync -> Smart sync

Have no clue what all that is about.

Put sync on that what checks the gmail account. You can set it to only check between certain parts of the day. Eg midnight to 8am if that's when you sleeping.

I only use the gmail app on my phone, and I keep auto sync on. My email gets delivered on my phone right on time.
