No gmail notifications

I have not been getting any gmail notifications for a long time, definitely not since froyo update. I have synced gmail in home>settings>accounts and the check box for notifications in gmail is checked and still nothing. I have to go into gmail and refresh a several times a day to check if i've gotten any mail through my gmail account. Frustrating.

I was about to do that which would have done that and possibly a factory reset but one of my droid x buds found a solution. The problem, as it turns out, was an issue with sync. There were no check boxes in the account sync settings so it was not holding the setting to auto sync, forcing me to manually push. However, if you use an auto sync power widget, it fixes the problem and those pesky check boxes reappear holding the the auto sync in place. The auto sync is part of the stock power widget but i am using a stand alone auto sync widget i got on the market.

Thanks for the response and suggestion! It was definitely my last alternative if i couldn't find anything else.
