Hello,

When i go to the settings of my Messages App, then Multimedia Messages, I don't see the "Group messages" text box.

I only have :
- Delivery reports
- read reports
- Auto retrieve
- Roaming auto retrieve
- Set restrictions
- MMS Alert

How come i don't have Group messaging like other people ?

Don't believe you need the option, it's just there. I've sent several group mssgs and they go fine.

Yes, but I feel like its just sending multiple copies of the same SMS one by one to each contact. Never get a reply inside the message group

Group Messages is sent as MMS on the S5 so go into the MMS settings in the Stock Messaging app and it should be checked. Also, when you add more then one receivers to your message, a group message thing should appear and should be checked (I'm on T-Mobile, so it might be different for other carriers)

That's not the problem, your service provider may have disabled the feature, but from a thread I've seen, Samsung has disabled group messages on the S5:

Visitor: does the s5 no longer have the group messaging feature?
Visitor: because I know it works on the s3 and s4
Aiden: Yes, unfortunately the S5 does not have Group Messaging. However, you can use a third party app.
Aiden: We don't have information about third party apps as these apps are not tested on Samsung phones.
Visitor: so samsung got rid of the group messaging feature for their s5?
Aiden: You can contact PlayStore support at 1-855-836-3987 for information about third party apps."

Thank you for this information !
I found the post also according to what you wrote
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s5/840946-group-messaging-problems.html

Seems like a reset to factory settings works for some people and doesn't for others.
After all the time i spend customising my phone, downloading the apps, etc, not really interested in trying if there is only a 50% chance it will work..
I guess its time to switch to google hangouts as default messaging app

Yeah, I've never heard anything about Samsung removing group messaging option. I just checked my S5 with all available updates, and with Sprint as carrier, works just fine.

My boyfriend had the same problem. I called Tech Support and it was because he had to do a software update. He connected to WiFi, did the software update and now it works perfectly! Good luck.... let me know if it worked for you.

The problem exists when you turn on your phone and dont register into a Samsung account. One of the options when you get your phone is to log into the samsung account or create a samsung account. If you hit "skip" on that page of the set up then you wont be able to get the group messaging.

I had the same issue, read all the responses in ways to do it. Ultimately, the first time I set up my S5 I skipped that section and couldnt send group texts.

I did a factory restore and then signed up for the samsung account in the registration process and BAM. All of a sudden I could send group messages and keep then in the same thread when people respond.

Hi! I noticed this issue with my note 4..I'm using t mobile,...check your settings, go to about device, status, and make sure your phone number is listed for your SIM.. once they added my phone number to my sim.. it populated. Technical support will tell you that you have to do a hard reset or delete some third party apps but that is not the case. This worked for me after about an hour when they added my number to the SIM

I just switched carriers from AT&T to Crickett Wireless. I had the Group Message Box on AT&T but it is not there on Crickett. I have called custoer service and after a half hour they finally understood what I was asking them and they created a CASE ID for the Back Office Tech Support. It is the carrier and nothing else.
