According to the latest bulletin the ICS update will be transmitted to wifi tabs in the UK. Pardon my education but isn't what they speak there similar to what we speak here in the US, except how they spell "color"? If they can do it there, how difficult would it be to do it here? I'm no techie but couldn't they make it available here and we just load it via PC using the Kies program? So what if we don't have a Queen?

Does anyone know the "real" reason why it's taking so long? Many have their own theories, but it has to be something in the "political world" of technology on why they are holding back. They keep so many things from the general public you know. Probably has something to do with the all mighty $.

Imagine that. A week ago the UK was never getting ICS for Wifi-only Tabs and now, just 7 days later, they have it. It can't be too long for it to arrive in the US, so hopefully people will finally calm down and just wait it out. It's been annoying to wait this long, but hopefully this will put somewhat of an end to the complaints.

Glad its coming but either way in the future I will avoid Samsung devices. Updates are far too slow.

Why the delay? It seems obvious to me. There is very little for big Sam to gain by expending resources on a product that's already been sold. Their concern is that by updating an existing model it would cannibalize sales from their newer models that come with ICS out of the box. By now the Tab 2 has been out for a while so why not go ahead and issue the update. How much can it cost them now? It may also prevent even more alienation from existing users. I may not know what is going on in Mr. Sung's mind but I can speculate in terms that sound plausible.

Well awaiting a callback from Samsung as I can't connect my Tab to Kies although it will connect to my SGS3 so don't know whether there ICS yet or not!! Keep checking for an OTA but just says no updates available still so still waiting!!

I need my tabs camera functional and I hear you lose it with a rom? After seeing what ICS did for my Moto Bionic I have no doubt it will make this tab better, but its sad other tabs are already getting Jelly Bean. Not a day goes by I don't kick myself for not trading this in for Asus.

I had never rooted anything to my Tab, but last night I went ahead and downloaded and flashed this new, official UK build from the XDA-developers forum. It's completely worth it if you know what you are doing, IMO. As an official build, everything in it works normally and it's completely worth the wait. I didn't know what I was doing, but I managed to follow the instructions and put everything in place without too much of a problem. Now, with an official version of ICS, my Tab runs like a dream and feels like a new machine, frankly. This wait has been horrible, but this new OS version is simply amazing.

I did the exact same thing the morning it was released and couldn't be happier. My tab is brand new and runs so much better. Actually i have found that it run better on other versions of UK firmware, but anyways. I'll keep it as is until the office US is released, if it ever is. My nexus 7 arrives tomorrow lol.

Just flash the UK ROM for the GT-P7510 from Sammobile using ODIN. My Tab works like a charm. When the US version comes along, flash the Tab again...

Is there a clear set of instructions on how you do it as never done anything like that before except jail breaking my iphone?
Thanks
Adey

Follow the instructions in this link: Flashing Galaxy tab Firmware using ODIN | smartphone and tablet review, tips, tweak and hack.
Make sure the firmware from sammobile is in the same directory as ODIN.

Good luck!

To make sure I have it right....
I created a new folder and extracted the .tar.md5 file to it.
I also extracted Odin to the same folder, which extracted the Odin executable, the .ini file, and a .dll file.
From there, I run Odin, and use the .tar.md5 file in the PDA slot on Odin.
Correct?
There is also a .pit file. Do I also need to use it?
I ask as there are differences in some of the "how to" giudes that have been posted on various sites.

ETA: One more (I hope)...As the file is for the UK, and I'm in the US, is there an option for US english?

Thanks!

That is the process I used. I only specified the .md5 file.

You don't need Kies. It's garbage. Just go to settings, device, software update and check that way.
