No ir blaster on s7!

I used the peelsmart remote on my s5. I assumed I would be able to do the same with the s7, but find out later it doesn't have ir blaster. I would rather not watch TV at all than have to switch between 3 remotes again. Any remote apps I can download that will fix this problem? I don't have a smart TV so I believe Wi-Fi remote apps won't work either. Any help will be great!!

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

Can't you just buy a universal remote that will work with your TV? just curious, why do you need three remotes for on TV? I'm just curious as I've only ever used two at max.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

Samsung removed it from the note 5 too. Doubt we would see it again

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

People who are tech illiterate and just buy flagship phones like galaxy and iPhone just to say they have them don't use it so they took it out. So stupid. Same reason a lot of features went missing

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I used it frequently whenever I had an appointment somewhere. I'd changed the waiting room TV to see what else was on. I was also disappointed when I found out

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I was a little disappointed but as stated earlier, haven't used it much. Definitely not a deal breaker.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I used it when traveling. Many hotels, motels have remotes that are unable to change the input source. I used the Peel remote App to change the input so I could use my Fire Stick to watch Amazon, Netflix, etc. Don't know what I will do now.

Disappointed but I'll take the Water Resistant if had to pick between the two.

I also love having control at LA Fitness and waiting rooms. LOL

I gotta admit, I love it on my Note 4. It was nice being able to turn up the volume on my stereos receiver and change the channel on the cable box just from one screen. I could even see what was on any channel from that same remote app.

I'm keeping that Note 4 just for that reason.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I'm tempted to keep my S5 for that very reason lol

I was about to go out and buy a Samsung S7 Edge tomorrow because my Sony Z3 failed and really wanted to use universal remote apps to control my TV's, lights, fan (pretty much everything IR), but not much point now since they removed it. So yeah guess it is definitely a deal breaker for me. Silly removing features and it was such a useful feature.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I'm guessing that they had to make choices about what features were more important to more potential buyers... maybe the last design decision was microsd vs ir blaster, for me, they made the better choice. That said, for those that must have an ir blaster:

There seem to be quite a few options, some look more kludgy than others, but if someone really wanted the s7, and also needs ir capability, it seems there is hope.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I wish the S7 had an IR blaster. Even my Gear 2 watch has one and I use it quite often to control our TV's. However, I don't wear the watch as often as I have my phone with me, so I would have been a happier camper had Samsung not left it off the S7.

Our phones keep track of everything we do on them.

On my Note 5, I have an app that shows me a few of the things that the phone keeps count of such as how many times I plug in the charger, how many times I remove the S Pen and how many times I've connected a headset. Obviously these are there for Samsung use somehow and they most likely knew how many times people used the IR sensor on past phones that had it built in.

I'm trying find all this insulting and name calling.. must be missing some posts here.

Re: No ir blaster on s7!

I found it was most useful at bars and in waiting rooms rather than my own home. I am really missing this feature.

These posts are typically deleted then the mod posts a warning.

I guess for the OP, the lesson here is read a review first before buying.
