I spent some time overnight trying to get Kies working with my new Note 10.1. I got a message that the device is not supported. I also got messages from the Veriszon 'installer' that gets enabled when you plug a Verizon 4G/LTE Note 10.1 in at first that told me to uninstall Kies before loading the driver.

Sigh....so I did uninstall Kies, got the driver loaded and MTP mode USB mass Storage working so I could at least drag and drop files from my Win7/74 PC to the Micro SD Card on my 10.1
I did then try and re-install latest Kies and took the online upgrade and still says not supported.
I called Verizon and after getting two tech support people that had never heard of Kies I was escalated again to someone who had kind of heard of it....she reached out on another line to Samsung support for Verizon and was told that currently the Galaxy Note 10.1 is NOT supported  and you can only drag and drop with mass storage. It was 'unknown' whether Kies will get updated to support our tablet but it wasn;t ruled out.

Kind of disappointing and for sure rough that it took 3 people at VZW to call one at Samsung to all determine "doesn't support it". I did ask if I could keep Kies installed for my SGS III and was told 'probably' won't cause any issue.Just dismiss the message that Note 10.1 is no supported and carry on.

Re: NO Kies Support for Galaxy Note 10.1 (yet??)

The software gives me a message saying 'this device is not supported in Kies 2.0'
That and Samsung confirmed UT isn't supported. I was plugging mind in on USB.... We're you also or wireless?

Hi pwscott I use Kies Air to back up, transfer files, move pictures, music etc. Kies air is the wireless version of Kies. You should have this on your tablet already if not just download from Samsung Apps or Google Play. Once installed on the tablet click on the icon, Kies air will use your wireless network to link up with your other device (netbook/desktop) you will be advised to type a URL into your browser. It will ask you to type a 4 digit PIN (from your G Note) into your other device to confirm acceptance of link. (something like bluetooth). Anyway I hope that helps.

Call samsung , they speak english, and explain to them what is going on. They emailed me a a direct exe file and when I ran It kies worked....maybe it was an updated kies he sent me im not sure about it. Or

Connect it to your windows computer and wait for the drivers to install, once done a popup should apear asking what to do, open as a folder.
Copy everything in the two major major folders.....this is a crude none app backing back up....copy to youur desktop. Now factory restore, reset the tablet and move the files back over to the tablet. Then tries kies.

I did this and worked for me for my samsung phone thats an option.

Re: NO Kies Support for Galaxy Note 10.1 (yet??)

Just spent most of an hour at 800-SAM-SUNG
The first tech I spoke with checked my IMEI # and confirmed the Model # of my Note 10.1....he had no idea why I was getting the "Unsupported Device Warning" message from Kies. My call got escalated after 15 minutes and I held for 10-15 more then got an escalation engineer. The second level engineer immediately said, "Your device is not supported." I asked why and if it would be supported in the future...? He said YOUR device will NOT be supported because it is a VERIZON device, and NO Verizon devices are supported by Kies except for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

I have such a like/hate relationship with Verizon...seriously- you took that support for a great program away?? WTF.:mad::mad:
