Subject here is text notification. I text alot, and after I receive the first text from someone for the day, my phone doesn't notify me that I have received another one from the same person. It does not show on the widget, not on the notification bar, the little green notification light does not flash and it does not chime or ring or ding or whatever the sound its supposed to make.I have not downloaded any app for texting or for notifications. What I have is stock. Is there a fix for this a NOOB can understand?

I don't use stock because I think it lacks the basic feature of reminding you of texts you may have missed when they first come in.

I use GOchat and it works great. Lots of customization options if you want them. I love how you can change the sound for different people.

You should give it a shot. It's free. It will also take care of this problem you are having.

I just started using handsent today. I love it. Sort of reminds me of an old Cydia app that I used on my jailbroken iPhone.

Turn off the notifications in your stock messaging app. You will notice that the message count will still grow in the app preview icon but there's currently nothing you can do to stop it.

As to your original question OP. I would go to messages>settings>notifications and turn all your notifications off, restart your phone, then turn them all back on and restart your phone again (i would turn fast boot off for this personally)

If it still doesn't work then I say you have a defective unit. From that point factory reset or take it to VZW store and as long as you can recreate the issue they should replace phone no questions asked

handcent also has a setting that disables your stock notifications and makes handcent the default. it's under settings>application settings
