No / low GSM signal after update

Hi there,

I have updated my phone through "Wireless Update" found in the System menu and since it's been updated I have either low signal or no signal at all (depending on location). For example, at my workplace there isn't much signal strength by originally but my phone was available at 3/5 signal strength marks. Now I have Zero marks and no network, nobody can call me all day long. At home, the signal strength was 5/5 before now it's 4/5 constantly but if someone calls me it drops to 1/5 or 2/5 immediately.

My phone is a THL4000 with KitKat 4.4.2, MTK6582KK

Would you please help me how can I solve this problem?

First off I LOVE your avatar! (Had one back in the day!)

Anyways, try turning on Airplane mode waiting 10 to 15 seconds then turning it off. Then your phone will reacquire it's signal. Also try go to Settings, More, Cellular Networks, Preferred Network Type, change to 3G, reboot, THEN go back in and change back to LTE.

Thanks for the reply pkcable,

At home, the signal is found and maintained but at lower strength than before the update. At work (where the strength was inherently low), the signal lost and cannot be found, my phone tries to re-acquire the signal at every 5 seconds automatically. Some of those settings you mentioned I don't have, I have Settings, More, Mobile Networks, Preferred networks, and there's a list of service providers (they all have 2G/3G). It is set to my provider Telenor(2G/3G) by automatically. I'm unable to find "LTE" in anywhere in the Network Settings.

My bad for assuming you had a 4G LTE phone. Your phone is 3G only which is fine. Try what I said except set it to 2G only reboot and THEN back to 2G/3G. Also your celluar carrier MAY be willing to provide you with a signal booster device for your home and/or office. Here in the US T-Mobile provides them for free, and Verizon & AT&T provide them for a fee.

So I tried to set it to 2G then reboot then back go 2G/3g but no change. I contacted to my carrier and they made zero change to the signal strength or anything else in my area. I also tried to switch my SIM with my colleagues' phones and my sim worked just fine, while I tried their SIM in my phone too and still no signal even with another carrier. So the problem is 100% sure is in my phone and not the carrier.

I also did a Factory Reset to my phone from the system menu, I'm not sure it reverts the recent system update that may cause this issue, but nothing has changed - again. No signal at all. It worked just fine until last week and I made zero damage/fall/etc, only a system update.
