no more LED for notifications?

this phone is replacing the razr maxx HD and one thing i missed from that phone is the LED notifications.

with this phone it has an "active display" that shows notifications on the screen?

how does this actually work as it seems like it is not doing a good job letting me know when i have a text, email, missed call, etc..

If you have active notifications on you can pick what apps you want to display. They should flash on the screen. You might want to check your settings. There is a do not disturb mode that could be making them not show up.

for example, i went to:

settings
active display
manage notification types

i don't see one for text messaging or missed calls

I would think checking messaging (if you are using the stock program) and phone would do the trick.

There should be one called messages and the other phone. Those should be checked off.

i see "messaging" but i don't see anything for missed calls.

It's "phone" as stated above, there is no "missed call" selection.
