No more text message alerts

When I receive a text, I get no notification, no icon, and no LED. When I go to my messages, it doesn't even show the text to be a new message. Has anyone ran into this?

Have you used a third party sms application? Those disable stock sms settings

A couple from amazon. I've tried going through all my settings and everything seems to be enabled correctly. I tried uninstalling some of them that I thought might be causing it and I am still having the problem.
