The question is is the GSII going to be 4g. There is no indication of that. But if it is, then I'll drop the DC and get the SGSII. It IS an addiction isn't it? LOL

Going to 4g is going to cost you the 4g premium thus changing your plan. Won't matter now but do that after the tier plan is out and you will get the shaft.

well, I for one hope to all the gods that they do not implement this until at least we find out the SGS2 is LTE and is released. But, considering they have mentioned that this will be enacted by this summer i'm not going to hold my breath, There's no mention of the release of the Bionic so I guess i have to get what's out now. Which is better? TB or DC

I wouldn't get impatient. Just keep checking with verizon and hold out as long as you can for what you really want. Or find a used bolt for cheap just to get ya on 4g.

Yeah, I would def. hold off until last minute.

Good advice, I hadn't planned on rushing out immediately. I do hope the really good phones are released soon though.

Me too. I love my X but I may go my route to lock in my unlimited data until the bionic hits

I'm really bad at the math thing....I just pulled my latest bill. My data is 704731 kilobytes.....how many gb does that convert to? thanks lol

There seem to be many power users but maybe for the majority of people the tiered system won't be too bad. When I heard about it I checked my usage and I should be okay on the ~$30 plan. I use my phone a lot, but not too much for video downloads or streaming.

There's no point in going to Verizon then. I mean, i can get grandfathered in, but if I ever wanted to change phones, as I would like to do, then I do not want to lose unlimited data.

It doesn't matter if you change phones, only if your plan changes. Then you lose your privilege of being grandfathered in. just gonna have to pay full price for your phones.

As long as you don't upgrade or get a new phone when those new plans come out, you will basically be grandfathered in. The minute you sign a new contract, all bets are off. Get your unlimited data while supplies last!

As long as you don't change your data plan - you will be grand fathered in even if you upgrade your handset in the future.

Well someone in another topic mentioned that Verizon may not eliminate unlimited data due to the customer backlash but time will tell.

I personally don't use that much data, but I feel better being unlimited than I would with capped data.

This may be true actually, but it will be significantly more than the $30 a month we are paying now for it. I am just guessing here but I can see something like this:

>1 GB = 15-20$
1-2 Gb = 25$
unlimited = $40

The sweet spot for them is the $25. They will get the light users by putting the thought out there that it is only 5$ extra er month for piece of mind that you won't go over and they will get the heavier users by passing it off as you "saving" 5 a month over your old plan.

EDIT: I am sure the overage fee is gonna go up a bit too. Maybe 15%

Please no, I have a Droid X, my mom and sister have an iPhone 4, and my other sister has a blackberry. Which means someone is going to be yelled at for using data.

thankfully i just renewed my 2-year unlimited contract at the end of last year, but once the contract is up, i will most likely be switching to another carrier. guess this change doesn't effect me much, but it will be bad news for verizon.

all of the big four carriers are switching to limited data. all.. but if this affects me in dec 2012.. i'm going to US cellular.. they will be merged with AT&T by then... but i plan to keep my fassy running for a long time..
