I'm already a Prime member, so this is really great, especially since Netflix is lagging behind.

Just some tips to people trying to set this up:.

1. You need to set up your Android browser so that its recognized as a "Desktop" not an Android device. I've been using the Dolphin Browser, but I think this works in any browser. In the top browser window, type "about:data" and it will unlock the extra settings. You won't see anything happen, but it did work. Then go to Menu>More>Settings, and select "User Agent" Change this to "Desktop".

2. You will need to be running Flash Player version 10.2. I needed to go to the Android Market and install the updated version for my TB.

The image quality is ok... definitely room for improvement but better than nothing!

The catalogue is quite poor when compared to Netflix. Amazon streams most of the top movies for a fee but us prime members get the throw away.s. the quality is also quite poor. as a prime member I find very little extra value.

PlayOn sounds like the way to go if you have a PC at home that is always on.

Netflix was shown running on an LG Revolution. Qualcomm stated that the processor that the Revolution is running on is the first to be certified with the DRM to run netflix and all future snapdragons will have that security. The Thunderbolt has the same exact process (MSM8655) as the Revolution, so the Thunderbolt is capable of running netflix, its just a matter of whether or not the Thunderbolt comes with netflix on it, or if it comes out later as an update.

Could someone please correct me if I am wrong, but there have been two system dumps for the Thunderbolt. The first one had the same stuff as the pre-production units at CES. I thought that in the second system dump, there was a netflix folder/app in there.

I have the Netflix app on my Tbolt. I was able to get the apk from the LG Revolution system dump......Netflix worked just yesterday for the evo but wouldn't for the tbolt for some reason. there is a thread on XDA about it.....

I am using PlayOn on my my home PC and can stream not only Netflix but Amazon VOD, Comedy Central, Hulu and a ton of other sites that support video straight to my phone and it's pretty clear. I can also stream my own videos and pictures located on my PC to my phone as well.

I purchased the lifetime membership for playon (when it was on sale for $50) and I am loving it. I never have to worry about content being blocked based on device since all these services were built to stream to PC's, playon is a gateway that these services only see your PC accessing the content and not your phone.

So you're not even really using your "phone" to access the service everything is being loaded from your PC and sent to your phone using completely different service then Netflix. How does this have any relevance of a thread releated to streaming Netflix directly from your "phone" via a Netflix applicaiton?

I don't think my understanding of Netflix is the same as everyone elses...

They said that Netflix will only work on certain processors that have the specific DRM keys. I don't think they came out and said that other devices would be INCAPABLE of running Netflix, they just said they wouldn't because they didn't have the "more secure" snapdragons with the DRM keys.

It seems that what happened the other day was someone accidentally flipped on a switch for a few moments that allowed streaming of netflix, without checking for those DRM keys/processor specs.

Yes, it works outside my home over 3G or over WiFi from my office to my house.

When you first setup PlayOn on your PC, you have to activate the streaming to mobile devices. If you have a router that supports it (most do) it will automatically setup the port needed for your phone to connect to your PC.

After that is done you need to connect to your PC (one time deal) over WiFi so that PlayOn on your Phone synch's up with your PC and grams the config file so it knows how to connect to it outside your home. After that, you can connect via WiFi, 3G or 4G from anywhere, just as long as your PC is on.

Ummm..the thread is labeled "No Netflix...no problem" right? I'm just posting another alternative to getting Netflix on your phone since we do not have a native Netflix App so I think it has plenty of relevance in this thread. You don't like my posts well then skip over them. It's not like I jumped in and started talking about Angry Birds or something on this thread.

Also, the PlayOn app streams Netflix movies straight from Netflix to your phone, you can still browse for new DVD's that are not in your Queue and also browse new releases. So...in a way...you are accessing Netflix directly as you would if you had a native app.

Has nothing to do with liking your post just saying is your phone actually streaming the movie or are you required to your PC online and using your phone to activate the service and it's your actual PC which is streaming the movie and then sending it to your phone? Not really a grey area here either your phone is actually connecting to "Netflix streaming service" or it is not and your PC is doing it. Which if it is your PC then your phone isn't streaming the netflix service at all it's streaming your PC through an application to pass on the Netflix to your phone.

all of that snapdragon stuff for netflix is a half-truth, IMO

Revolution has same proc as Bolt yet somehow Rev can play netflix and Bolt can't? Has a lot to do with who Netflix chooses as a partner and LG/Netflix is a bit duo.
