No Nexus 5 for Verizon

Honestly I haven't tried. Verizon is cheaper than Sprint for my uses. Sprint does offer more but on stuff that I don't use. I get verizon voice service everywhere, even places that tmo and att don't, so I wouldn't switch even if Sprint or tmo is cheaper, which it is not for me, though my uses aren't typical

I accidentally quoted you and I have no idea where the person I meant to quote disappeared off to. Haha

Last I read the Nexus 5 wont be on vzw.I read those comments actually on the vzw forums,no surprize to me its not gunno .
As someone else mentioned it would make no sense to switch carriers just to have the N5 if its not getting a signal .:)

A lot of people forget companies buy the rights to certain phones. Verizon didn't do this with the HTC One, nor the S4 Active (AT&T's rights to that are expiring soon actually). Verizon has it's line, the Droid line that no one else has. It's a constant cat and mouse game with these companies of why one is better than the other. There is a reason Verizon dominates the market however. For one look at the LTE map. Verizon just flat out dominates that. No question. Now when it comes to phones, ya, they don't always get what you want right away or ever. The most expensive kind of gets me as well. AT&T's new plans are the same prices as Verizon's, TMobile and Sprint offer more for less, but their Networks are quite frankly terrible. So are you really getting more? It really all evens out. You are paying less, and getting less coverage.

Google doesn't not like Verizon anymore, since the gnex debacle. It would be an amazing surprise if the n5 was released on Verizon.

A nexus device on a CDMA carrier isn't a true nexus anyway. The updates don't come from Google, but the carrier, so why care?

This has been said before. However the new DROID line is Motorola/Google and all signs say it will continue to be. Plus they did release the Moto X to Verizon as well.

You would have to wait for the nexus 6 or... Nexus 7 :p

Once verizon implements volte, they would have to allow a Nexus phone just like the nexus 7 works on Verizon 4GLTE(no cdma)

Verizon wont get Nexus but it will get Moto Maker on Nov 11th. I bet they cut a deal to have access on same day the Nexus ships. Takes some of the pressure off.

A Nexus is whatever Google allows to be called a Nexus but whatever.

Exactly. It ain't that serious.

Didn't AT&T claim to be pushing out VoLTE shortly? I remember reading both users would have to have VoLTE in order to take advantage of the HD calling. The reason I mention this is would a Nexus without a CDMA radio even work properly on Verizon then? I haven't had a chance to read into it much but ATT is GSM so they have no issues.

Once verizon deploys volte, it would have to accept any device capable of being on its volte network. Verizon is planning to release gsm only devices (no cdma radios) in the future.

Would it though? It would probably be a 700MHz-only device. I don't think the same rules apply to AWS.

If Google made a Nexus 4 successor phone that supports Verizon then it would have to have band 13,just like the nexus 7 supports it. Whether or not they will, I don't know. Also, the rules are gsm rules, not fcc, that require gsm carriers to allow any device that can operate on their network to do so. Verizon has additional restrictions from the fcc

But if the device has 700MHz band 13 and 1700MHz band 4, I'm not sure if Verizon would have to support AWS. The open access "rules" pertain to the 700MHz license. Could you point me to what you're referring to when you say "GSM rules"?

Buuuut, Verizon won't issue a SIM for the nexus 7 because they haven't certified it... it will and can work, yeah, but still VZW isn't following the rules set out by the FCC, and they getting away with it.

So, when a voice over LTE nexus phone comes out, who's to say VZW won't pull the same stunt?

Maybe, but just get a sim on your own. Just call Verizon and tell them that you have a note 3 or whatever device has the same sim size and that you want to activate but no sim. They will mail you one free.

As for the fcc, they are not fast acting. They have fined Verizon a few times in the past. The guy is arguing more on principle, there is a really easy way around this.

Yeah, principle is a big deal though. If VZW is this adamant about keeping devices off their network, then the nexus manufacturers probably won't want to go through the trouble of making it work on their network.
Just like there's no nexus 4, 5, and probably 6 that will be on VZW.
As soon as T-Mobile puts up more towers, I'm ditching VZW
