No nook colors for 2 weeks!?!?

Sold Out in AZ

Went to two Best Buy stores here in AZ and they have these signs posted.

I ended buying online with Best Buy so that I could get the free $50 worth of case. BB's policy is to allow you 14 days to return once you receive your item in the mail. Shipping + Tax was roughly on par with what I'd pay full tax on in the store. Since I'm not modifying the Nook in any way- just going to use Nookie I feel like this is pretty low risk. If B&N changes something in the 'new stock' of readers I can just return it to BB for full refund. Pretty cool that they have that case deal going on this week.

ive had my nc since december and it has never behaved as if it had a light sensor. doubt this is accurate

Ordered my NC last week through Best Buy. Of course it was backordered. Checked the stores this afternoon near me, and by golly, two stores had them in stock! Called BB.com customer service, after about a 45 minute process, they got my order switched to a store pickup. Ran down there, got it, now I'm back home and ready to root.

Checking the software version, its 1.01.

Of we go!!!

The two stores were Manassas, VA and Gainesville, VA.

I just brought my 2nd nook home, exchanged it today at bestbuy. First one had spotty (and slow) wi-fi so hoping this one is better. The new nook is charging and I am writing the new honeycomb image (v4) to a microSD card. Having only unboxed my original nook less than a week ago I can definitely tell that this one was out of the box... so they definitely touched something. Only things I noticed so far aside from the box being in a different sort of factory packaging and the box having creases from being opened is that the micro USB plug is much more positive feeling (maybe I had a bad one previously). And the N on the usb adaptor is actually illuminated (currently amber). Write faster image, write faster!

I could possibly understand a light sensor, where it might auto-correct your brightness depending on ambient light... but proximity? Dunno about you guys, but I don't tend to hold my Nook up to my ear or anything like that ;)

New inventory Nook still work with rooting.

I am happy to see that the restocked Nook seems to be operating as usual. I had a 'bubble' in the back cover of my first unit and it made a popping noise every time I handled it outside the cover I bought for it. I waited as long as I could to see if any definitive info would come out on whether there were any changes to the Nook's software during the two-week dry period to prevent rooting. I wanted to be very sure that I would be able to run root from an sd card before doing an exchange. If not, I was just going to try to put up with the popping noise; better to pop and be rooted than not! But I discovered that I couldn't live with the popping noise and the unusual feel to the back cover. So, I was forced to deal with exchanging it or lose out on getting a completely new unit during my 14-day return period. After suggesting a cover to hide the bubble and prevent the popping noise (huh?), the manager agreed to give me a reservation for a new unit when they were in stock again. The store received a shipment this week and last night the unit was exchanged for a new one. I just popped in my Honeycomb sd card and things worked fine. So, as the article referenced above indicates, all is well in Nookland!
