No notification from any messages apps

All of a sudden, I get no audible notification from any of the messages apps I've tried... Native, Google, etc.

There is also no advanced optimization option in my settings.

Any help?

Which Android version are you running? Have you tried force stop and clearing cache for those apps?

Android 9 and I have wiped cache for the app several times, rebooted,.... No luck

Settings? All settings have been checked many times and I see nothing prohibiting audible notifications.

Just to be sure -- the volume slider for Notifications is turned up, and you're not in Do Not Disturb, correct?

Yep... Slider is set to volume on do not disturb is off. Maybe it's the Google messages app?

You're still getting the notification icon in the status bar? If so, what if you change the notification tone for the messaging app to one of the other preinstalled tones, or a custom tone?
