No phone service

Hello, I just got my new Pixel 2 xl, beautiful phone everything works fine, getting and sending email, sending photos etc, but cannot call out or receive calls. If someone calls it goes straight to a prerecorded message, If I call I get a recorded message that says 'to complete this call I must add a 1 or 0 plus the area code, that did not work.
I am using t-mobile prepaid

I am missing something . I am sure the phone is fine but there is something I did not do.

Suggestions please.

I think you need to let T-MO know that you have a new device and hopefully they can activate the service for you on your new Pixel 2 XL.

Yes, that was the problem, I called T-mobile and they fixed me up.
I did not remember that I had a new sim card, dumb.
