No preferred care after you get phone

Tried to add preferred care and even after checking with a supervisor and being a 3 time Pixel customer, it was a no. They said I could return the phone and re-order. Not great customer service,
 
But that's the policy. Sucks but it's been the same for years. Not sure why they do it that way but its not new.

It's probably "the policy" because that's how the program is written, and the people you talk to don't rewrite programs. If they get a lot of feedback about it (by "a lot" I mean at least hundreds), they might put someone to work changing it.

Probably just the easy route for Google to tie the warranty to the phone.
