Hi I sometimes have a strange icon in notifications and I wonder what it means.
Here is a screenshot.

In the upper left corner the circle with the slash in it. Similar to Ø.
It is not 'no signal' since I have signal and 'no signal' have a backslash in the circle.
Does anyone know what it means?

I have to fix your title , do you have service? And which Samsung device?

Samsung galaxy S7, Android 8.0 Oreo.
Why I ask is because my phone has started to rejecting calls from time to time on it's own (just laying screen up on the desk). I wonder if it is the phone or the service provider and that has problems.

When I left my phone on the desk today I had service, the same as the bars shows (~80%). When I got back I had a rejected call in history. Also I tried to make 3 international calls today. All of them where disconnected some 3 or 4 minutes in the call. I do not know if the problem is on my side or theirs, they told me that they have problems sometimes. The phone has resided by the desk all the time, when I called and when I left it there, so I think I would have the same service if my service provider is not experiencing fluctuations in the network coverage.

Who's your service provider?
You can try reset network in settings
Can also try safe mode , you can still receive call s and texts but 3td party apps are disabled
You can try wifi calling on or off see if it makes a difference , and report back ?

Is Do Not Disturb on?

I believe it's do not disturb almost positive.Possibly a setting connected to a specific time or it's set. Just go to your settings should be in sound if.not settings search.

Also, do you see anything in the notification panel when you swipe it down that might correlate?

The icon dissapears when I swipe down.
I think I can see a pattern. Thanks for the hints about 'do not disturb'.
It seams that it blocks calls from callers that is not in my contacts.
The problem is that I do not find any settings in andorid 8 (oreo) for that functionality.
I will investigate more but if you have a suggestion on where to look I'm all ears.

Btw. thanks for your responses, it is much appreciated!

I think I have found it. I should have checked it before even posting. The thing is that this behaviour is recent and I have not changed any settings recently, that confused me.
It was related to automatic call blocking. I have an app that is blocking international calls from +21 and +96 countries. Which is countries I have gotten spam calls from. Also somhow in the settings there where a setting to block all numbers not among my contacts that was enabled. I just disabled it.
I think that it might solve the problem now.
The app I have installed is "call blocker".
