I have the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Verizon. When I send a text or email message I do not get a sound indicating the message was sent. I do get the window popping up showing it was sent, but no sound. Is this normal?

I think it is normal...this isnt the iphone. My fiance's iphone make a sound when a message is sent but of the 3 androind phones I have had I have never had sound when a message is sent.

I've owned 8 Android devices and have never heard a sound when sending a message.

i came into this thread because i thought the topic was weird because ive never heard a sound for that kind of thing

I think it's an iphone thing...it annoys the hell out of me when my fiance is texting some one lol

My Rezound plays a sound when a text message has been sent. It also gives me a visual confirmation in the notification bar. I don't know if I can turn the sound off...really doesn't bother me.

Ok, I just checked. In my settings I can choose both a received and sent notification sound and can toggle each one separately, as well as choose which sound to play for received messages and sent messages.

Must be part of the HTC skin, I don't see the same options on the GN. There is an option to request delivery reports for each message but no option to choose the sound when sending a message.

I be if you use something like Handcent for SMS, you could have a Sent notification of some sort.

I just looked in my Handcent, and it does have the option to enable notification for sent SMS. I still don't understand why.

I would think sound is useful if it doesn't tell you a message is sent. It time stamps it when sent otherwise it says sending... or whatever. That's not enough?

Third party app would be the solution.

Mine plays the notification sound when my message doesn't send which makes more sense to me. That way I know my message never got to the person.
