NO SOUND!!!

I have an Optimus S and it was working fine on Monday morning... I tried to call my wife and there was no sound in the earpiece. For most husbands this wouldn't be a problem but I needed to talk to her. The only sound I can get is if I switch to speaker phone.

The phone is rooted and every thread I found to unroot my phone so I can take it to Sprint either has dead links in it or the phone fails to boot afterwards.

I'm assuming this is a hardware problem since it was working and I even tried an older ROM that I had used in the past and it didn't solve the issue.

Any advice???

Does it work when you use a headset?
You have tried to turn up the volume rocker, right? (Had to ask.)
Are you sure the mute wasn't on on her end and that she can be heard on other calls?
