I read that today. Surprised the heck out of me. I was surprised Ice Cream Sandwich doesn't have it . . .

Anyone know if google has announced plans to do it later for its signature phone?

If not, anyone got a recommendation for an app with this function?

Thanks.

all three of email accounts go to my gmail in one inbox......if that is what you are talking about....all of your accounts in one inbox.....then just set up your gmail and do it.

No idea if this will be changed in the future, but there's an app for that:D. K-9 mail unifies email accounts and it's free.

Seriously....you have that functionality right in your gmail. I have a comcast account, a yahoo account, and my gmail all coming into my gmail inbox. I can write emails from my gmail sent from any of those accounts.....what more is it that ics is supposed to do?

I agree wholeheartedly. My bionic had a universal inbox widget that showed everything except gmail and iloved it! Between that, the lack of swype, and the crappy design of the dock, im regretting my purchase.

Do you have those other emails set to forward to your gmail?

You can grab swype from over xda. No root needed, dl the apk and install.

These are all things that you could have learned by playing with the phone in the store. Universal inbox is pretty much a Moto thing when it comes to Android - I don't know of any other devices that have it. I think it's really pointless, but to each his own. If that was a feature you desired so badly, then you should have researched it.

Same with Swype - this is a pure Google phone. Pure Google software. Therefore, it comes with Google's software keyboard, which isn't Swype. You could easily have done a google search and downloaded the apk in the same amount of time it took you to complain on the forum.

Open the stock email app (not gmail), add all your email accounts, and when you open up the app after setting up all your accounts, just click on the email account listed at the top and click on "combined view". A unified inbox is included.

You could also just add the "email account" widget to your home screen and select "combined view" when placing it. (After adding all of your email accounts of course.)

Maybe some people want all their email coming into one email account, but not everybody. Heck, the only reason I have a gmail account is to use Android. Also people with Corporate exchange accounts don't want any of that coming into their Gmail account first.

What the OP is asking about (I think) is the same exact feature that is part of the stock calendar app. I launch that and I see both my gmail and my live account appointments and they are color coded for each source... The OP (again, I think) wants to open a single email app and have emails from multiple sources show up in one mass list.

You can open a single email app and have multiple email accounts show ip as if they were one ....that app is gmail. Others have suggested other ways of doing it such as the widget.....but i dont understand why a motorola app or third party app or baked in google app thats part of ics is any different than using the gmail app. You want an email application that unfies your multiple email accounts and you can do that with gmail. I personally do not use my gmail account very often or my yahoo account but its nice to have all of my accounts show up as one......and the easiest way to do that for me was gmail.

On your pc go to gmail and set up mail fetcher.....you can unify up to 5 pop email accounts into your gmail account.

Can you "reply from" the original address or will it come from the @gmail.com account?

I just updated to ICS (aka Android 4.0) on my Verizon Razr MAXX. There IS a universal inbox, under another name, and it's accessible directly from an icon. Go to apps, widgets (tab), email account -- hold finger down on email account; it puts an icon on your home page AND opens a menu to choose an account or "combined view." Works great!!! I hope this is available on other phones.

i miss having texts and social messages integrated into the Universal inbox. Although Combined View of the ICS email app allows multiple POP and IMAP accounts, it was nice to have texts, Facebook and Twitter updates in one place as well.

Just go sign up for the Swype beta (Google it).

In the future, you might want to spend a few minutes researching your purchases.
