No update to android 10

There are many things that I think should happen, also. Doesn't make it so.
I didn't claim the processor couldn't handle it. In fact, I wrote that the processor wasn't the issue.
I had an OG Pixel XL and a Pixel 2XL. I didn't like either one.
Samsung is doing what they said they would do.

If you don't like Samsung products and support, don't buy them.
I never said I didn't like Samsung products. Samsung is my favorite due to their ultra-reliable hardware (never had a Samsung product crap out on me or have any hardware issues prematurely), good cameras, nice UI, etc... But this whole update thing is a problem I've had with EVERY brand more or less. And no matter how tempting long support is, I'm NEVER going to iCrap. Samsung has the potential to outshine the competition if they had longer update support.

Have you told Samsung how you feel?

BTW, I have no desire to get an eyePhone. Every since I heard of someone connecting the eyePod to someone else's computer and having all of their music wiped off, I said I'll never have any of the proprietary BS and I have not.

Samsung is only just releasing Android 10 to the 2019 models.. Be patient, your time will come...

Hmm..... my 2016 pixel has been running 10 since it was released. I think when you pay 2019 Sammy prices you shouldn't need to be that patient.... the prices alone should earn you more rapidity ;-)

Hi all I’ve not had any updates on my phone note 9 it has ui 1 updated security patch December every time I look, it says you have the latest software install x

Thanks in advance

I've had the Android 10 update for 48 hours. Only cleared the cache partition afterwards. Decided to wait and see whether a factory reset would be necessary. So far I've no complaints whatsoever. Exynos unlocked version. West Africa.

There is no indication the the eight series will get Android 10.
They came with Marshmallow, got Oreo and Pie. That's two OS updates.
Am I missing something?

I think I'm missing something.... Samsung flagships only come with 2 os upgrades for those Samsung prices? Moto phones come with 2 os upgrades... WTH?!? I figured Sammie's flagships would come with 3 os upgrades like flagship pixels. Things that make you go hmmm......

They should update as long as Qualcomm supports the SD835 IMO. Pixel 2/XL which have the 835 are on Android 10 no problem (heck, even the Pixel 1 with the 820, same chip as in Tab S3, has Android 10 officially), so obviously Qualcomm ain't the issue here. This is planned obsolescence at its finest.

Yes it is.... my pixel 1 is running 10 flawlessly, and has been since 10 was first released. Samsung only giving 2 os upgrades is a disgrace.

They are trying to copy bad stuff like headphone jack removal from Crapple, but they didn't copy the one good thing (long term support).

I've had several motorola phones and 2 pixels. I think this Note 9 is the best phone I've ever had, even though it's my first non-rootable phone since 2012.
I don't care how many OS updates it gets. In fact, I've purposely kept it on Oreo. I did not want any of the "features" of pie.
I've never owned any eyeProducts and likely never will.

So they say, but I've not seen any data to show any vulnerability.
What about phones that are old enough to no longer receive any update? Should they be thrown away?
No. Only replace it if you start having major security issues like your Gmail being hacked multiple times each year. Personally experienced this on a KitKat phone, although that thing also had reliability issues so it was a double whammy of reasons to replace it.

Since 2012, my phone has rarely been on the latest OS. I have experienced no security issues.

Well, Serbian hackers are alot worse probably. Haven't had my Gmail hacked at all on any device since I left Serbia. Up to date OS is only defense against crazy Serbian hackers... not perfect but still...

I disagree to honest. Google seems to push a new version of Android to Pixel users before it's fully stable, while rarely offering anything new that isn't already on Samsung phones. Meanwhile Samsung takes the latest version of Android and builds a superior version of it with a ton of additional features and capabilities built in. By the time they release it to the public it already includes all the patches Google had to send out to fix their unstable OS.

I'll take Samsungs approach over Google and stock Android any day. I still get my monthly security updates, I can patiently wait for a stable update to the OS version.

Exactly. One of the big reasons I LOVE Samsung products.

I'd rather not wait until AFTER my account is hacked, thanks...
Well, if you have limited money sometimes you end up having to delay a new device purchase as much as possible. I waited till the very last moment when that KitKat phone was hardly able to smoothly run my favorite file manager and couldn't keep me secure because I was trying to put off dumping several hundred bucks. Updates to put a better OS on that device wouldve fixed the performance issues big time and the security would've been fixed. Nowadays I have more money so upgrading when in need won't be a problem in the future. Another problem is that I tend to get attached to my Android devices and that also contributes to sometimes upgrading when it's way way too late.

That's the beauty of choices ;-) I always wait for the official update of a new os, I run minimal third party apps, and have never had a problem with any version of stock Android on versions 7 through 10 on pixels. I have had issues on Sammy phones with the overload of bloat and multiple competing apps bogging down the phone and user experience :O
