No Voicemail Notification?

My phone no longer shows the notification in the top bar that I have new voicemails.. It still shows me when I have missed calls but it doesnt show if I have voicemails or not. The only way to know is to actually call my voicemail every time I have a missed call.

What would that have to do with the notification icon missing in the bar at the top of the phone? I'm confused..
