Couple of questions i cant seem to figure out..

For the built in email app.. it seems there is only the option of notifications on or off.. there is no option for turn off sound notification, but still show the notification message in the lockscreen?

The other thing i'm wondering, for both sms and emails in the lockscreen.. is there no way to have the content hidden, but only hidden until an arrow is pressed to the right of it to reveal the full mesage.. this is a basic feature of windows phone 10 that seems to be lacking here (in addition to the lacking of calendar items for multiple days visible on the lockscreen).

Thanks in advance

1) You can select NONE as a sound in the notification settings of your e-mail or messaging app.
2) Unfortunately, nope. The only way that will happen is when you have multiple notifications waiting (expand with two fingers swiping down, no 'right arrow'). There might be 3rd party apps that show the notification in a different way, but not the stock apps.

To hide content on lock screen you have to go to SETTINGS> SOUNDS AND NOTIFICATIONS > APP NOTIFICATIONS
and select the apps that you want to have content blocked on the lock screen.

For example, I selected "Messages" and then turned ON the "Hide content on lock screen" button. Hope this helps.

Thanks Phoneguy! I had forgotten about that setting! However, it won't exactly solve what mark is asking. That will effectively hide content on the lockscreen (while showing content for other apps), BUT there's no way to expand the notification on the lockscreen to 'reveal' the message afterwards. You'd have to do it through the notification bar.

Yeah, i discovered the option of "silent" for disabling the sound for a given app's notification.. but there is no real way to have the content still show on the lockscreen, but in a collapsed view until an arrow is pressed, unless like you mention there is a 3rd party or rooted way of achieving this (as well as making is so the security area doesnt suck up 3/4 the screen just from turning the phone on to see notifications).

Yup, those are modifications that would have to be made to the core system, which in this case, means custom ROMs.
