No way to use custom route maps from PC to android maps app?

So I can't figure out a way to load custom maps in the android google maps app. Like the way you can click and drag a custom route on the PC version of google maps and then save it. I can't figure out a way to do this natively within the android app. It looks like this should be supported as one of the layers on the android app is "my maps" and I can see my saved maps I made on my pc but when I select them in the android app it gives me an error and can't load them saying they aren't supported. Does anyone know how to make a custom route and use it in Google navigation?

Anyone know a workaround or has gotten this to work?
