Noisy Charger

Received my Incredible yesterday. Hooked it up to the AC charger and shortly after it started charging, the part that actually plugs into the wall started making a high pitched noise. Wasn't constant, but alternated between noise and quite or high pitched and even higher pitched. Anyone else notice this from their chargers? It was definitely coming from the charger and not the phone itself.

sounds like the capacitor in the charger has been knocked loose or is broken. I'd take it to a VZW store for an exchange...

Verizon is over-nighting a whole new phone as they don't have just the chargers in stock and they don't know if the faulty charger has damaged the phone/battery or not. Good thing I use appbrain for the apps. That and Backup Assistant will make moving to the new phone easier. What is the easiest way to move my text messages to the new phone?

Go to appbrain.com, lets you browse and mark apps you want to install. Then you startup the appbrain app, and sync it with the website. Yes, it is free. After you sync, you click on Perform Installs to install the apps you marked, it does them one at a time so you can approve each one after seeing what access to the phone it needs.

Yep, just called Verizon and they shipped out a replacement phone. Still waiting on it as they sent it two day not overnight as indicated over the phone. The new one should be here tomorrow.

I noticed this problem on Saturday night, but now it has stopped making the noise.

I went back to my Verizon store with my charger and the manager just gave me a charger for a Droid. Works like a charm.

Yeah, my charger is making the noise too regardless of outlet. I've heard from some forums that its okay for the noise, but I'm going to go to the store to see if I can get it replaced.

That's probably a good idea. Hate to have something screwing with my DI.

Mine is making the noise also, but I assumed it was poor shielding in the circuit. I'll have to check my wifes to see what it sounds like

Got my DInc today (July 6, 2010) and the charger is making the noise as described by the OP on the first charge. Not sure what to do about it yet, probably swing by a store and try to get another charger.

HTC or whoever makes the chargers is still having issues with them.

I have the same problem and Verizon sent me a generic charger. It works but only registers as usb rather than AC power on the phone. I've been using my blackberry charger instead though
