Android Central Question

I just got a new nokia 6.2. I spent the last 2 hours on the phone with ATT trying to get the voice mail working. Their tech support eventually gave up and told me to try a 3rd party app. So I down loaded youmail to see if it works. The phone just rings and rings and youmail never picks up. Should I return the new nokia phone?

Welcome to Android Central! According to AT&T's support site, these are the steps if you don't have a phone that you got directly from AT&T:

  • Call your 10-digit wireless number.
  • When you hear your voicemail greeting, press the * key to interrupt it.
  • If you reach the main voicemail system greeting, enter your 10-digit wireless phone number, then interrupt your greeting by pressing the * key.
  • Enter your voicemail password when prompted.
  • Follow the voice prompts to listen to your messages.

To do this on your phone, open your Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail>Advanced Settings>Setup (your exact menu tree might differ slightly). Edit the Voicemail Number you see, and change it to your own 10 digit wireless number. You can probably also add the * followed by your password/PIN in that number, although you might have to enter a Pause before the * (a Pause is usually a P or a comma). Experiment with that and see if it works.

Hi. I am the original poster. When I dial the 10 digit phone number I get a busy signal. So neither of the proposed solutions will help me. I did change the phone settings to the 10 digit number and held 1 and still get busy signal.

Before I called att yesterday if I held 1 I would get to the mail att voicemail system. If I then added my 10 digit # it would say something like, this voicemail account does not exist.
