Nokia 8 keeps waking up even when in flight mode

[Android Central Question]

My Nokia 8.1 keeps waking up when not in use. I have deleted all apps, forced stop on apps, put in flight mode, turned off ambient lighting and nothing is working! It is very annoying!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Does it also happen in Safe Mode? https://www.hardreset.info/devices/nokia/nokia-8/safe-mode/

Also, do you have a wallet-style case with any credit cards in it? If so, the NFC sensor in the phone might be getting triggered by an NFC chip in one of those cards.

Hi thanks for coming back to me. Yes still happens in safe mode. I don't have that kind of a case. It is beyond annoying can't figure it out!

Try covering the proximity sensor to rule out some hardware failure.

Does it correspond with any notifications? Do you notice the Power button acting a little weird, or do you have a case that might be pressing on the Power button too hard? It's worth testing it out of the case for a little while.

I have tried it without the case. Also doesn't seem to correspond to notifications.

Does the phone have a tap-to-wake feature? If so, then maybe the screen is experiencing phantom touches. If you have a screen protector, try taking it off.

Great! I certainly hope that was the culprit, but let us know if the problem crops up again even without a screen protector.
