Non-stock wallpapers full screen?

So I got my PH-1 in the mail today and started tinkering. I switched to my favorite wallpaper only to find a black bar added to the top, is there a way to make non-stock wallpapers fill the screen? If not I'm already disappointed.

Did you switch to a new launcher? Nova launcher is the only one that supports the full display.

That will reflect how your wallpaper is set as if you use a launcher that doesn’t support full display, then you will get that black bar.

No, stock launcher. Are you saying I need Nova to go full screen with my wallpapers?

No, not at all. Wallpaper always worked full-screen for me with the stock launcher. Are you using image files or are you using some sort of wallpaper app?

Looking at these side by side perhaps it's the image.

If it’s just wallpapers with the stock launcher, it should work. As you have figured out already, it’s the wallpaper
