I've been searching the web and forums for a couple of days and haven't really found the answers I need, so here I am.
I just acquired the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, and am eager to put it to use, but can't really get past "all those permissions." I even thought about returning it! I get that some permissions are required, so I don't need that to be explained. The thing is, generally if you are using a PC, there is a clear ToS--is there also such a thing with apps? Where would I find these? Plus most sites on the web have an area for you to set the amount you are willing to share. I'm not finding that with the apps I downloaded. I was very concerned about the Facebook app, and generally set security features high on my PC, but is it not possible with the android app? I was wondering if I can get around these permissions--as in is it 'safer' to access FB or Ebay (for example) using an internet browser on android (I prefer Firefox, but as yet have not installed it on my tab 2) as opposed to the app?
Some apps have ridiculous permissions (totally unnecessary)--and I don't mind paying extra to avoid data harvesting, but how much better are paid versions?
Look--I know there are posts regarding permissions, but not many seemed concerned about the vagueness of it all, just "oh the program needs it to function", and did not find out if you can adjust settings, or if using the browser to access sites is more secure. People have said "there are no viruses on android" but perhaps not if people just give permission for a program to do whatever? Oh and if you know of a good link of apps to avoid, that'd be great.... THANK YOU!
