There are several places to get Android apps and games online. By rooting this phone, will I be able to install theses apps and games?
Maybe I have missed a thread about it, but I didnt see one.

Have you installed the latest software update on the phone? Supposedly the 2.2.2 update remedies the lack of side-loading apps.

Thanks for the reply...but maybe I am not asking the right question.

I have not purchased the Thrive yet. I am thinking about it. I do not want to buy the phone though if I cannot "hack" it so that I may get Android software and games from the internet. Maybe piracy is frowned upon on these forums. I apologize if that is the case. But that is what I would to do with the phone.

if you upgrade to 2.2.2, then there will be an option in the menu, Settings->Application->Development, check unknown sources. If you cannot get the 2.2.2 update, and still want to install apps not from the android market, enter the secret menu (dial 3845#*506#); next to last is the option "Unknow Sources Test" (sic). There you can tick the Unknown Sources checkbox.
