Ok so I recently rooted my phone because it was updated to 1.50.000 using this method

How to Root Evo 3D! [2.08.651.2 and Later] [HTC Unlock Method] | HTC Evo 4G Hacks!

I get stuck at the very last step (Step 22)

A. Does this mean that I haven't fully rooted my phone?
B. Does anyone know how to fix it so I can complete this? I tried the theories in the comments but to no avail.

My main question is I rooted my phone because I am just concerned about increasing battery life and I was told that rooting is the best solution as it will give you hours on top of what you already have.

What is the best rom to install for this? I have noticed the current state of my phone that the battery life is the exact same as it was prior. Kind of in a pinch because I need to leave town today at 3pm so I need to make sure I have this completed before then!

Thanks for reading my lengthy post and helping me in guys!

What exactly is happening (or not happening) on step 22? What do you mean you get stuck?

Here is Step 22 of that process...

Step 22. Go back to your phone and hit Power button to get out of USB mode. Then choose “+++++Go Back+++++” and hit the Power button.
Then choose “install zip from sdcard” and hit the Power button.
Then choose “choose zip from sdcard” and hit the Power button.
Then choose su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip and hit the Power button.
Choose “Yes” and hit the Power button.

And, this is exactly what I get..

Mounting SYSTEM…
Deleting SYSTEM:bin/su…
Extracting files to SYSTEM…
Setting SYSTEM:bin/su permissions to 6755…
Creating SYSTEM:xbin/su symbolic link…
E:Error in /sdcard/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
(status 0)
Installation aborted.

Just rooting your phone will have zero impact on battery life. You have to do stuff after that. Examples : Freeze or delete bloatware, or install custom ROM/kernel.

I assume I can do that with CleanROM after doing some research? Or which would you recommend?

There is a setting in Recovery to use signature verification. Make sure it is checked.

So with the Signature Check reading Enabled I got the following

-- Installing: /sdcard/su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed,zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.

I got through everything else so simply, I am not sure what is snagging me up on this one now though..Very frustrating lol

Thanks for your help by the way!!

Sorry for the double post, however do I need to computer that step before I flash the CleanROM on it? I got CleanROM to download completely now! :)

Actually, you can skip this if you are going to flash a custom ROM (the ROM will come rooted). There really is no point in rooting the stock ROM if you are going to replace it.

Uncheck the signature verification.

I am more concerned with the fact that you recovery (assuming you are using ClockworkMod if you used the guide you linked to) is not flashing the zip.

I use a different recovery so I can't really help troubleshoot with that particular recovery.

If you are HBOOT 1.5 you need to make sure you use the correct steps for flashing a custom ROM. You have to access recovery through fastboot. Start at step 3 here http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...oot-install-custom-rom-hboot-1-5-3-steps.html
In the command line make just make sure that the recovery name you type is the same as the recovery you installed.

Yeah that is exactly what I am using. I just followed along through that tutorial.

Unless I did something wrong in the unrooting process, but everything else seemed to have been just fine.

It sounds like everything else went fine. While in recovery you should go ahead and make a nandroid backup. Find the option to make a back up. Check the boxes and make the backup. This will back up your entire system in case anything ever goes wrong in the future you will have a backup to restore to get you out of a jam.

Ok so ****** bag move on my part, But I did not make a backup however I got CleanROM to install properly just now.

Don't judge the battery life for a few days. Really ignore it today. You are going to burn through some battery getting everything set back up. It takes a little time for a new ROM to "settle in". Personally I notice the battery benefits after 2 or 3 days.

Gotcha! Thanks for helping me out, I really appreciate it!

This thing is ridiculously fast now! Holy crap.

Hey man,

Firstly, the phone seems to be sooooo much more stable than it was before, it flies through everything seamlessly. However back to the battery, it's been 6 days now and it is worse than it was before the root. Any tips or tricks you could throw my way?
